Tauck has released the first photos of its innovative lower-level “loft” cabins. Under a new policy, guests will now enjoy unlimited beer, wine and premium spirits throughout the day aboard Tauck’s four existing Jewel Class ships and on its two new Inspiration Class ships launching this year. Travelers on Tauck’s riverboats had previously enjoyed unlimited wine and beer with onboard meals only.

Tauck has disclosed the names of the two new riverboats it will launch next year, and announced that the ships will each be considerably longer than the four sister-ships that currently comprise the company’s fleet. The new ships, the ms Inspire and ms Savor, will both be 443 feet long, compared to Tauck’s existing ships which each measure 361 feet. Despite being 23% longer, the two newbuilds will only accommodate 130 guests each, or just 10% more than its current ships.

Tauck announced today that it will welcome two newbuilds into its fleet of European riverboats next year, bringing the total number of Tauck ships on Europe’s rivers to six. According to company officials, the new vessels are slated to launch in March and June of 2014. In addition Tauck will launch four new river cruise itineraries in Europe next year.

Good news is at hand for solo travelers frustrated by paying a higher per-person cabin rate than cruisers sharing a stateroom with a spouse or friend.  Tauck is dropping the “single supplement” for Category 1 cabins on each of its 2013 European river cruises.  The savings apply to every departure on all 14 of Tauck’s European river cruise itineraries.

Tauck is introducing a new river cruise on the Rhone that celebrates and explores the rich culinary traditions of France.  The new 10-day “A Taste of France” itinerary begins with a two-night hotel stay and exploration of local food culture in Paris, followed by a seven-night river cruise through the Rhone Valley aboard Tauck’s MS Swiss Emerald riverboat.
