Brand USA, the tourism marketing body for the United States of America, has teamed up with ESPN to produce an online sports calendar which is now live on the consumer website, DiscoverAmerica.com. Housed on a new specific sports page, the calendar gives users the opportunity to understand which cities are hosting which US sporting events and teams so they can plan their holidays accordingly and experience some of the unique and passionate US sporting culture.

Hertz signs on as Rugby League World Cup sponsor
The Hertz Corporation has signed with Rugby League World Cup 2013 as their Official Vehicle Hire Supplier, offering Middle East based rugby league fans a ten per cent discount on Hertz car rentals during the one month global tournament. The world’s largest general car use brand will provide a fleet of cars to carry players and officials between the tournament’s matches and vans for moving equipment such as players’ kit.

Qatar Airways to support national football side ahead of Gulf Cup
Qatar Airways and the Qatar Football Association have announced a strategic partnership with the carrier being named Official Airline of Qatar’s national soccer team. The tie-up comes ahead of the Gulf Cup, in which Qatar will join seven other national teams from across the Gulf to compete in the region’s most prestigious football tournament.
Leeds to host the Tour de France Grand Depart
Leeds in Yorkshire has been confirmed as the host for the start of the 2014 Tour de France. The north England county will host racing on July 5th and 6th, before the tour moves south for another British stage, this time in London.

Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel has edged out Lewis Hamilton of McLaren during the second practice session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The world championship leader was slight 0.168 seconds quicker than British driver Hamilton, who had earlier se the pace in the first session.

Lewis Hamilton has claimed the fastest time during the first practice session at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In sparkling form, the McLaren driver was 0.333 seconds quicker than team-mate Jenson Button in second place.
