Slight drop in passenger numbers at Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines has recorded a 2.6 per cent year-on-year decline in passenger carriage measured in revenue passenger kilometres during November. The number of passengers carried also decreased 2.7 per cent over the same month last year to 1.39 million.
Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia outline first steps of alliance
Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia have announced the first two milestones of their recently approved alliance: new international and domestic routes to Darwin and the launch of frequent flyer programme co-operation. As part of a joint plan to increase services to northern Australia, Singapore Airlines’ regional full service airline, SilkAir, will begin a four-times-weekly service between Singapore and Darwin from March 26th 2012, and Virgin Australia will complement these services with a daily service between Sydney and Darwin from April 2nd 2012 .

Singapore Airlines confirmed B777-300ER order with Boeing
Singapore Airlines has firmed up an order with Boeing for eight more B777-300ERs for use on medium and long-haul routes. The order was announced in August when a letter of intent was inked, with a firm purchase agreement now in place, enabling deliveries of the aircraft to begin in the 2013/14 financial year.

Signed earlier this week at the IATA Slots conference in Singapore, the agreement will see Scoot use the respected Route Exchange platform.
High fuel prices slash profits at Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airways has reported a net profit of $239 million in the first half of the 2011-12 financial year, 62 per cent lower than the same period a year ago. The fall was principally on account of high fuel costs, the carrier said in a statement to markets earlier.

Singapore Airlines signs codeshare with Ethiopian Airlines
From November 1st 2011, Singapore Airlines’ customers will have the option of flying to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city, through a codeshare agreement with future Star Alliance partner Ethiopian Airlines. Under the agreement, SIA will add its ‘SQ’ code to Ethiopian-operated flights operating daily between Dubai and Addis Ababa.
