Cornwall Airport Newquay has revealed SAS will commence services from next summer. Launching June 28th, the Star Alliance member will begin a twice-weekly service from Copenhagen, with this being the first time that Cornwall’s gateway has been connected directly with Scandinavia.

Scandinavian Airlines has taken delivery of its first A320neo aircraft, becoming the first airline in Scandinavia to operate the world’s most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft. The plane is the first of 30 on order by the carrier. SAS ordered the A320neo as part of its strategy to modernise its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft, reducing environmental impact such as emissions and aircraft noise.

Scandinavian Airlines has appointed Niko Ek to the role of regional general manager, Europe. EK is responsible for leading the UK team, based in London, and staff in Europe. Moving to his new role from head of sales operations in Sweden, he has worked at SAS since 2001, returning to the company following a short break in 2013.

Scandinavian Airlines has become the first European airline to receive the new 242-tonne Maximum Take-Off Weight variant of the A330-300. The aircraft was delivered to SAS during a ceremony held at Airbus in Toulouse, France. SAS has selected Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to power its new A330-300.
