Qatar Airways launches all-first-class flight to Saudi Arabia
Qatar Airways has announced the launch of a new daily All-First Class service from its hub in Doha to Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to coincide with the start of Ramadan. With the additional services, departures to Jeddah will rise from double-daily flights to triple-daily flights.
Qatar Airways adds Abha to Saudi Arabia route map
Qatar Airways has announced it will begin flights to Abha, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, beginning September 2nd. The non-stop service from Doha will operate four times a week. The city of Abha is the capital of Asir, a south-western province in the Kingdom and is gaining popularity in the region as a tourist destination due to attractions such as its mild seasonal weather and fertile mountains.
IATA AGM 2015: Al Baker launches attack on North American carriers
Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker has launched a scathing attack on North American airlines. Speaking at the International Air Transport Association annual general meeting in Miami, Al Baker criticised attempts to restrict what American carriers argue is heavily subsidised competition from Gulf carriers.

Qatar Airways prepares fleet for Paris Air Show 2015
Qatar Airways is preparing to showcase the newest and best of its fleet with a display of five aircraft at the 2015 Paris Air Show, which takes place next month at Le Bourget in Paris. The planes include the Airbus A380 and A350 XWB, both of which entered service for the airline recently, with Qatar Airways receiving the A350 as Global Launch Customer.
Qatar Executive to purchase 30 Gulfstream jets
Qatar Executive, the Qatar Airways’ business jet division, has announced it has agreed to purchase up to 30 aircraft from Gulfstream Aerospace Corp as part of a memorandum of understanding originally announced in October of last year. The original sale called for Qatar Executive to purchase up to 20 Gulfstream aircraft, including the all-new Gulfstream G500.
Qatar Airways to bring A350 to Munich-Doha route
Qatar Airways has announced the expansion of its A350 services to Germany, with the new state-of-the-art aircraft being deployed on its Doha-Munich route. Commencing October 1st 2015, the Doha-based airline will be launching the A350 XWB to Munich alongside its existing Boeing 787 Dreamliner service on one of the two double-daily flights to Munich.
Qatar Airways chief Al Baker offers support to US Open Skies
Akbar Al Baker, group chief executive for Qatar Airways has met with officials in Washington DC to add the airline’s voice to the on-going US Open Skies debate. The move comes ahead of planned Qatar Airways launches to Los Angeles, Boston, and Atlanta. Al Baker refuted the “baseless” claims of the “Big Three” US airlines - American, Delta & United - calling them “a transparent attempt to block new competition and limit consumer choice”.
Qatar Airways flies into Ras Al Khaimah from October
Qatar Airways has announced an expansion to its UAE services with the launch of direct flights to Ras Al Khaimah, commencing October 1st 2015. Having launched Sharjah and Dubai World Central in March 2014 and with the announcement to launch Ras Al Khaimah in October this year, Qatar Airways is significantly increasing its operations to the UAE as a result of growing demand for more capacity in and out of the country.

Qatar Airways will begin the next phase of its USA route development with the introduction of three new passenger routes to Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta. With these new destinations, Qatar Airways will offer daily non-stop services to all ten of the largest metropolitan areas of the United States. Effective January 1st, 2016, Qatar Airways will commence daily flights to Los Angeles, California, the second largest city in the United States, with the airline’s flagship Boeing 777 aircraft, which features a two-class cabin with 42 Business Class fully lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Qatar Airways to go daily on Edinburgh-Doha flights
Qatar Airways will begin to operate a daily direct scheduled service from Edinburgh Airport to Doha’s Hamad International Airport from tomorrow. The airline will also be celebrating a year since the successful launch of the original five services per week, with the additional frequencies reinforcing Qatar Airways’ commitment to Scotland. The daily QR028 outbound service and QR027 inbound service, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will give passengers even greater access to more than 140 worldwide destinations served by Qatar Airways through its state-of-the-art hub, Hamad International Airport.
