Royal Caribbean has announced that the Cuban government has granted them approval for cruises to Cuba and they plan to announce their first Florida-Cuba itineraries in the near future. At the same time, Oceania Cruises has revealed its first three inaugural voyages from Miami to Cuba. The first will depart in March 2017.
New chief executives for Norwegian Cruise Line-owned brands
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced strategic changes to its brand leadership team to further align the company’s organisational structure with its goal to drive sustained growth and profitability. Bob Binder has been appointed president and chief executive of Oceania Cruises, in addition to his current role as vice chairman of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, which he has held since 2011.
Three killed following fire on board Oceania Insignia in St Lucia
Two contractors and a member of the crew have been killed on board the Oceania Insignia following a fire. The luxury cruise vessel was docked at the Caribbean Island of St Lucia when the incident occurred. Some 656 passengers on-board the vessel were safely evacuated, with the remainder of the cruise cancelled.
Oceania Cruises offer guests free Internet
Today, Oceania Cruises announced plans to provide complimentary Internet access to guests booked in either a suite or Concierge Level stateroom on any of its five award-winning mid-size ships. This is the first time the upper-premium cruise line has offered a free Internet program, with the new benefit commencing during the 2015 winter season.
Oceania Cruises records 1,000,000th booking
Travel advisor Jenny Malka of Atlanta-based Century Travel, a Virtuoso affiliated agency, booked Oceania Cruises’ one-millionth reservation earlier today. This is a significant milestone for Oceania Cruises, which was founded by cruise industry veterans Frank Del Rio and Bob Binder with three, 684-passenger ships – Insignia, Nautica and Regatta.

Oceania cruises’ ‘Riviera’ makes North American debut in November
Riviera, Oceania Cruises’ newest ship in the upper-premium cruise segment, arrives at her homeport of Miami on November 29 for her inaugural winter season. Riviera will sail five Caribbean voyages over 12 departure dates featuring ports of calls from the exotic Eastern to the deep Southern Caribbean.
