Virgin breaks ground on design-led hotel in Dallas
Virgin Hotels is breaking ground with Dunhill Partners and Gatehouse Capital on Virgin Hotels Dallas. The new development marks Virgin Hotels’ second property currently under construction, behind Virgin Hotels New York City. Virgin Hotels Dallas will open its doors at the end of 2018.
Hyatt Regency set to open in Seattle
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is planning to operate a Hyatt Regency hotel in Seattle. Expected to open in mid-2018, the premium, full service hotel will be located in Seattle’s Denny Triangle neighborhood at 8th and 9th Avenues between Stewart and Howell Streets in downtown Seattle.
Six Senses Hotels moves into United States with New York property
Six Senses Hotels has confirmed its debut in the United States with the signing of Six Senses New York. A luxury hotel being developed by HFZ Capital Group in New York City, it is situated between Manhattan’s popular High Line and the Hudson River.
Kimpton Hotels announces two new Florida properties
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced plans to expand its presence in Florida with the opening of two new hotels in 2018: Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach in Miami and a new, luxury lifestyle boutique hotel in Tampa. These two additions will be joining Kimpton Angler’s Hotel, Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, Kimpton EPIC Hotel, Kimpton Vero Beach Hotel & Spa, Kimpton Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa, and Kimpton Hotel Zamora in the Florida region.
Marriott to open triple-branded property in Nashville
Marriott International has broken ground on its first-ever hotel to contain three of its brands in a single building. The landmark project will rise in Nashville’s SoBro neighbourhood, which over the last few years has been transforming into a bustling area filled with restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The 470-room, $137 million hotel is expected to open mid-year in 2018.
InterContinental San Diego set for 2018 opening
InterContinental Hotels Group is developing a new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property in San Diego by Lankford-Phelps-Portman, a development partnership. Set to open in 2018, the 400-room hotel will be part of a multi-phase mixed-use development, known as BRIC, on the former site of Lane Field in the North Embarcadero area of downtown San Diego.
Plans revealed for Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos
Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Irongate, a full-service real estate development firm, have announced plans for a luxury resort and private residences on the pristine beaches of Baja’s eastern shore. With planning in place for a 2018 opening, Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas will be part of the exclusive Costa Palmas resort community, which will also feature a private marina and members-only beach and yacht club, all set along a two-mile stretch of immaculate white-sand beach and the warm, swimmable waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by Caruso Affiliated, one of the largest, privately held real estate development companies in the US, to manage Rosewood Miramar Beach Montecito which will open in 2018 as Rosewood’s third property in California. Located approximately 80 miles northwest of Los Angeles, Montecito is situated within the county of Santa Barbara and is one of the nation’s most affluent and exclusive areas.
