Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed its first hotel in Ethiopia, in the capital Addis Ababa, as its expansion in sub-Saharan Africa gathers pace. Slated to open in quarter for of 2019, Mövenpick Hotel Addis Ababa will be located in the city’s exclusive Bole district, just 2.5 kilometres from the international airport, and will feature 252 keys.
The Rezidor Hotel Group is planning its first resort on the Cape Verde island of Sal. The Radisson Blu Beach Resort, Sal will feature 240 guest rooms and open its doors in third quarter of 2019. The five-star beach resort is located on Santa Maria, the number one beach location in the country.
Protea Hotels is signing agreements for the development of its first hotel in Botswana, the ninth country in Africa in which the brand will have a presence. The group, which was established in South Africa, has expanded into Zambia, Nigeria, Namibia, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania and Ghana.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to open its first property in Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa. The company has signed a landmark deal with Queen Amina Garden Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Urban Shelter, a prominent Nigerian property development company, to manage the 250-key Mövenpick Hotel and Conference Centre Abuja, marking another milestone in its ambitious African expansion strategy.
