Protea deal drives Marriott expansion in Middle East and Africa
Marriott International’s Middle East and Africa investment and expansion plans are reaping strong rewards as the hotelier reports positive second quarter results. RevPAR excluding Egypt improved seven per cent year-on-year and was driven by occupancy growth of four per cent. Overall, quarter two RevPAR improved by 3.9 per cent for MEA including Egypt.
Marriott International to expand in Belarus with second Minsk property
Marriott International is expanding in Belarus with plans to open a second hotel in the country. The 220-room Marriott Minsk Hotel is expected to open in early 2015 and will operate under a franchise agreement with Vienna International Hotelmanagement.
King takes over global sales role with Marriott Signature Brands

Marriott International expands presence in Siberia

Marriott International has announced that Protea’s portfolio of hotels are now available for booking on the Marriott.com website, as well as through Marriott Global Reservations Offices. Marriott recently completed the approximately US$200 million acquisition of Protea Hotels and its sub-brands, African Pride Hotels and Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in a move that secured its position as the largest hotel operator on the African continent.
