International hotel operator Accor now operates over 100,000 rooms in the region, with the opening of ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan.
And then there were two in Hong Kong! Ibis has recently opened its second hotel in this archipelago that has been dubbed the Pearl of the East.
Accor has opened its new ibis budget hotel in Whitechapel at an official ceremony attended by Tower Hamlets mayor Lutfur Rahman. Ibis budget London Whitechapel has led to the creation of 30 jobs in the local area and is the first new ibis budget hotel to open in the UK.
The ibis and ibis budget Krakow Stare Miasto, and the ibis and ibis budget Warszawa Reduta, were respectively inaugurated on 9 and 21 May last. These two new hotels are part of a bigger objective for Accor: its goal to become a leader in Europe’s budget hotel segment.
Accor has started to roll out new branding for the ibis hotels in the UK with the ibis London Wembley Hotel. Thomas Dubaere, managing director, Accor UK and Ireland noted: “Last year, we announced our strategy to revolutionise our economy brand portfolio in order to meet the continuous changes our guests have in their lifestyles and consumption modes.”
The very first new generation ibis banners are currently being installed. The ibis Bata has just opened in Equatorial Guinea’s second largest city, kicking off the massive roll-out of the new generation ibis family hotels in 2012.
Throughout December, several hotels sporting the colours of the new ibis Styles brand have been putting up their new signs. It is the first step in the mass roll-out which is to take place throughout 2012, across the entire megabrand ibis network (ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget).
The “ibis Web Corner”, which the brand began rolling out during the first half of 2010, supplements its Wi-Fi offer by making cutting-edge computer hardware available to customers in a dedicated area.
