IATA urges governments to find electronics ban alternatives
The International Air Transport Association has called on governments to urgently find alternatives to recently announced measures by the United States and the United Kingdom to restrict the carry-on of large electronic items on certain flights departing the Middle East and North Africa.

IATA: Slight moderation in global passenger growth
The International Air Transport Association has announced global passenger traffic results for October showing that demand (measured in revenue passenger kilometres, or RPKs) rose 5.8 per cent compared to the same month last year. Capacity grew 6.3 per cent and load factor slid 0.4 percentage points to 80.1 per cent.

British Airways adds new distribution capability for business travellers

de Juniac takes up role as IATA director general
Alexandre de Juniac has officially taken on the role of director general and chief executive of the International Air Transport Association. Amadeus gains Level 3 New Distribution Capability from IATA
Amadeus has announced that it received Level 3 New Distribution Capability certification as an IT provider from the International Air Transport Association. Level 3 is the highest stage of NDC certification. Airlines using Amadeus’ new Altéa NDC solution developed earlier this year and now IATA certified, will have the option to distribute their prices and fares, including ancillary and fare family content, using NDC Offers & Orders.

IATA 2016: Industry profitability improves
The International Air Transport Association has revised its 2016 financial outlook for global air transport industry profits upwards to $39.4 billion (from $36.3 forecast in December 2015). That is expected to be generated on revenues of $709 billion for an aggregate net profit margin of 5.6%. 2016 is expected to be the fifth consecutive year of improving aggregate industry profits.
