Hotel prices spike for New Year’s Eve
If you need a hotel room in London for New Year’s Eve, expect to spend almost 200 per cent more than usual, according to a survey conducted by TravelMag.com. The survey compared accommodation costs in 30 major European destinations for December 31st 2015.
Manchester hotel prices up 68% for Rugby League World Cup

North American hotel rates rise 3 percent
Hotel prices in North America were 3 percent higher on average in the first six months of 2013, than during the same period in 2012, according to the latest data from the biannual Hotels.com® Hotel Price Index™ (HPI®). This rise in pricing is only slightly higher than the worldwide average increase of 2 percent across all regions in the first half of this year, compared year-over-year to 2012.
Asia hotel room rates up 4%
According to the latest Hotel Price Index™ (HPI™) released by hotels.com®, Asia witnessed a four percent increase in prices paid per room, per night last year, when compared to 2009.
Hotels.com latest price index reveals below-inflation hotel room price rises in UK
The average cost of a hotel room in the UK rose just two per cent between 2009 and 2010 to £83 a night fuelling the number of staycation breaks, according to the Hotels.com Hotel Price Index. The percentage increase – below the inflation rate – meant visitors to British hotels paid only £2 more per night than the previous year.
