Holland America Line has announced that Prinsendam will leave its fleet in July next year, and transfer to the German cruise company Phoenix Reisen.

Holland America Line has revealed Oprah Winfrey will serve as godmother of its new Nieuw Statendam vessel. In support of the appointment O, the Oprah Magazine, has announced a three-day Girls’ Getaway cruise on the ship, starting on January 30th next year.

Holland America Line celebrates ms Nieuw Statendam steel cutting
Holland America Line celebrated a significant construction milestone earlier as the first steel was cut for ms Nieuw Statendam, due for delivery in November 2018. The ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, and the block being built there will later be moved to the Marghera yard where the ship will be constructed.
Queen Máxima celebrates launch of ms Koningsdam
In a ceremony rich with history and meaning, Holland America Line has held a dedication ceremony for ms Koningsdam in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands officially blessed the bell and named Koningsdam on board the ship in front of invited dignitaries, cruise guests, travel partners and media.

Holland America Line will continue tradition when Her Majesty Queen Máxima of The Netherlands christens the line’s new Pinnacle-class ship, ms Koningsdam, in a ceremony in Rotterdam. The event will take place on May 20th on board the ship. The 2,650-guest ship is the first in a new class of vessel for the line.
Holland America Line welcomes ms Koningsdam to fleet
Holland America Line took delivery of ms Koningsdam earlier, officially making it the first Pinnacle-Class ship in the fleet. The signing ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy. Following the signing, the Dutch flag was raised on the ship for the first time. Koningsdam is registered in the Netherlands.

Holland America Line has appointed Denella Ri’chard to the position of senior director, trade communication and engagement. In this newly created role she is responsible for supporting travel agent partners worldwide, with particular focus on the United States and Canada.
ms Koningsdam passes sea trails as launch approaches
Holland America Line’s ms Koningsdam returned to Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard earlier after successfully completing two sets of sea trials off the Italian coast. Koningsdam left Marghera on January 2nd and performed the first set of sea trials over three days before going into dry dock at Fincantieri’s Trieste shipyard, where standard hull maintenance was performed.
Holland America Line plans $300m fleet overhaul
As part of a $300-million brand development initiative, Holland America Line is planning exciting improvements to its top staterooms with new furnishings, décor, amenities and upgrades for all suites on the line’s Signature, Vista and R-Class ships. The first ships to undergo the suite transformation will be ms Eurodam and ms Oosterdam, followed by ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam, ms Zuiderdam and ms Noordam.
