Fred. Olsen’s Black Watch joins Cruise Ship Horn Concert in Funchal
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 804-guest Black Watch will be taking part in a very special Cruise Ship Horn Concert in Funchal, Madeira, to see in the New Year. Black Watch will be visiting the ‘Garden Island’ of Madeira, as part of her 16-night ‘Canaries Christmas & Funchal Fireworks’ cruise, which left Liverpool on December 20th 2015, and will also be taking in the city’s spectacular fireworks display on New Year’s Eve, which is one of the best in the world.
Fred. Olsen Braemar rescues Polish yacht in Atlantic
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ ship Braemar has come to the aid of a sailing yacht marooned in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, with the dramatic rescue of the 14-metre Nicollet and her four Polish passengers and crew. The vessel had been adrift for nearly three days. Fred. Olsen’s 929-guest Braemar was cruising from Santa Cruz, Tenerife to Bridgetown, Barbados, at a speed of 16.2 Knots, when the officer of the watch spotted the drifting sailing yacht Nicollet on the radar, positioned in the Atlantic Ocean, ten nautical miles from the cruise ship.
Fred. Olsen waves goodbye to veteran Lol Nichols
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines will be waving a fond farewell to industry stalwart, Lol Nichols, the company’s general sales manager, in January 2016, after an impressive 43-year career within the travel and cruise trade, 21 years of which have been spent with Fred. Olsen. Nichols will be leaving Fred. Olsen to pursue a sunshine retirement in his home in Mallorca, and to indulge his love of travel and enjoy leisure time with family and friends.
