Emirates brings Airbus A380 to Malaysia
Emirates celebrated the New Year in a ‘big’ way by becoming the first airline to operate a scheduled Airbus A380 service to Malaysia. The airline’s flagship, operating as EK346, piloted by Malaysian national Captain Kwong Yung Ling arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) earlier to a traditional welcome of a water canon salute.
Emirates set to launch new Rio service
Emirates is preparing to launch daily services to the 2014 FIFA World Cup host city from 3rd January 2012. The new direct service to Rio de Janeiro, with an onward extension to Buenos Aires, will provide seamless connections to Emirates’ network of more than 100 destinations worldwide.

Emirates has begun its first daily A380 service to Germany by serving Munich over the weekend, nearly five weeks earlier than expected. The double-decker was originally set to replace EK 49, one of two daily services to Munich, from January 1st 2012.
