easyJet is rolling out allocated seating across its network from November 2012 following a successful summer trial, as part of its drive to improve customer satisfaction. Passengers can now opt to pay between £3 and £12 for their seats.
easyJet issues strike warning for Portugal flights
Low-cost airline easyJet has warned passengers flights to Portugal might be hit by strikes later today. Luton-based easyJet said there was a “small risk” there may be some late notice disruption of flights to and from Faro and Oporto due to industrial action by ground handling staff.
New mobile app for low-cost carrier easyJet
easyJet has launched its first full-feature mobile optimised website across Europe. Developed by Dublin-based mobile travel specialist Mobile Travel Technologies, the new mobile site gives customers the ability to search and book flights, check flight information, manage flight bookings and access FAQs.
Profits up at easyJet despite tough climate
Low-cost airline easyJet has reported a 10.5 per cent jump in revenue for the third quarter of the financial year. In total the Luton-based carrier recorded revenue of £1.03 billion for the period. This accompanied a 7.5 per cent increase in seats flown and a 10.9 per cent increase in passengers to 16 million.
Bishton to leave easyJet for Stelios’ new Fastjet carrier
Rob Bishton has quit his position as chief pilot with easyJet to take up the position with a new Fastjet budget carrier being launched by Stelios Haji-Ioannou. Stelios founded easyJet in 1995 and remains the largest shareholder of the UK-based carrier, but has more recently been involved in a number of disputes with the airline.
easyJet steps up to test Avoid ash detection system
Low-cost airline easyJet and Nicarnica Aviation have entered a partnership with Airbus to test the Airborne Volcanic Object Imaging Detector (Avoid) ash detection equipment on their A340-300 test aircraft. The first phase of testing, presently underway, sees equipment mounted externally on the left side of the aircraft fuselage, with real-time monitors placed inside the cabin allowing viewing of the sky ahead.
easyJet to offer Missed Flight Cover to passengers
In a new agreement with Mondial Assistance, No Exclusions will offer UK customers of easyJet the opportunity to purchase Missed Flight Cover. Missed Flight Cover enables an airline passenger to continue on their journey, with an immediate option (at the airport) of a new ticket on the next available flight at no additional cost, or the choice of a full flight refund.

easyJet has joined forces with children’s charity organisation UNICEF to launch a new partnership that will enable sun seekers, holidaymakers and business travellers alike to help save children’s lives every time they fly with easyJet this summer.
Goodbye to all that: easyJet closes Madrid base
easyJet has announced that after a thorough review of its Madrid operations it proposes to cease basing crew and aircraft at Madrid from Winter 2012/13. The British low-cost airline intends to continue to serve Spain but to do so differently by moving its aircraft to other easyJet bases around its European network which will deliver higher returns.
easyJet adds extra flights on Belfast routes
easyJet, Northern Ireland’s largest airline, is to introduce extra flights from Belfast International Airport on routes including Edinburgh, London and Manchester.
easyJet partners with Edinburgh Film Festival
easyJet has revealed it is the official European travel partner for the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2012 for the second year. As part of the sponsorship deal, easyJet will fly many of the high profile industry figures associated with this year’s event into the city, during the Festival dates from 20 June – 1 July.
easyJet expands travel tech options
Low-cost airline easyJet has extended its relationship with Sabre Travel Network to distribute its fares and services to travel agencies. The agreement has been expanded to provide further distribution to Sabre-connected travel agencies with access to easyJet fares through the global distribution system (GDS).
