Eurotunnel train power failure causes Channel Tunnel delays

Long delays are being seen in the Channel Tunnel after a Eurotunnel train suffered a power failure. Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from the train from the France-bound train earlier this morning after it lost power about a quarter of the way through the tunnel.

Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, has unveiled a plaque at St Pancras International station to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Channel Tunnel and the launch of international high speed rail services between the UK and mainland Europe. The unveiling of the plaque preceded the state visit of the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to France at the invitation of the president of France, Fran├žoise Hollande.

On July 18 2012, just a few days before the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Olympic Torch Relay will arrive at the Channel Tunnel Terminal in Folkestone and will travel through the 9 km section of the Tunnel between Folkestone and Samphire Hoe at the foot of Shakespeare Cliff.
