Air Malta flies into Cardiff Airport
Air Malta has announced good news for travellers in Wales and the south-west of England by adding an extra four departures as a prelude to their summer 2014 charter season. The additional flights on this popular route will commence on Tuesday April 8th 2014, four weeks earlier than originally planned, to satisfy expected public demand for travel to the sunshine island in the Mediterranean over the spring and Easter period.
Improvement works begin at Cardiff Airport
Cardiff Airport has unveiled plans to introduce a series of improvements to the terminal building over the winter months, with a focus on creating a better environment and enhancing the overall customer experience. These improvements have been planned for completion by next summer - the airport’s busiest time – and are the first developments following a Welsh Government loan to the airport.

Cardiff Airport has promoted Spencer Birns to the position of director of aviation business development, heading up the airport’s campaign for more flights. The appointment comes following the change in ownership and appointment of chief executive officer, Jon Horne and non executive directors in April 2013.
Cardiff Airport continues to boost passenger numbers
Figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority show Cardiff Airport passenger numbers have grown by six per cent to total 134,173 in July compared to the same month last year. This follows nine per cent growth in May and ten per cent growth in June.
New chief executive officer for Cardiff Airport
Jon Horne has been appointed to the role of chief executive at Cardiff Airport following its acquisition last week by the Welsh government. Announcing the appointment, Lord Rowe-Beddoe, chairman, Cardiff Airport, said: “His wide experience of the airport industry and his specific experience of running Cardiff Airport during a very successful period will be vital in the task of turning around the fortunes of Wales’ national airport by developing more airline services and destinations for the people of Wales.”

The first minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, has today announced the government has purchased Cardiff Airport for a total investment of £52 million. This follows a period of due diligence and negotiation with TBI, the airport’s previous owner.

Helvetic Airways has launched a new service between Welsh capital Cardiff and Zurich in Switzerland. Passengers on the departure will now be able to fly direct from Cardiff to Zurich four days a week. Flights will operate from Cardiff on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
