Etihad Airways has confirmed it will increase its stake in airberlin to 29.21 per cent, becoming the largest single shareholder in the carrier. Etihad Airways is considered the World’s Leading Airline by the prestigious World Travel Awards.

airberlin delays plane orders as it seeks return to profitability
airberlin has reached an agreement with the aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing to postpone the delivery of 19 aircraft as the carrier seeks to shrink its operations. The agreements stipulate deliveries of new aircraft originally scheduled for 2012 and 2013 will be partly postponed until 2015 and 2016 as the carrier implements an earnings-improvement program.

airberlin and the Hungarian airline Malev will in future be offering their customers selected flights as codeshare services. The codeshare agreement applies to flights from October 30th 2011.
airberlin: More passengers and increased capacity utilization in July
In July 2011, airberlin welcomed 3,809,401 guests on board, i.e. 2.9 percent more than in the corresponding month of the previous year (July 2010: 3,700,971 passengers). Fleet capacity utilization for July increased by 3.3 percentage points, i.e. from 81.2 to 84.5 percent. As compared to July 2010, capacity was reduced by 1.1 percent.
