Air France to hand over Mumbai route to Joon in June
As of June 8th, Air France will hand over its Paris Charles de Gaulle to Mumbai service to Joon, its new-generation subsidiary. The group’s little sister will connect the two cities with a daily flight operated by Airbus A340.

Air France-KLM Group takes 31 per cent stake in Virgin Atlantic
Air France-KLM Group, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic have announced their intention to expand their strategic partnership and offer customers access to the most comprehensive transatlantic route network via an extensive joint venture. Under the deal, Air France-KLM will acquire a 31 per cent stake in Virgin Atlantic from the holding currently held by Virgin Group.
Singapore Airlines signs codeshare deal with Air France-KLM
Singapore Airlines and regional subsidiary SilkAir have signed a memorandum of understanding with Air France-KLM to codeshare on each other’s flights with effect from April 2017. Under the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals, Singapore Airlines will add its ‘SQ’ designator code to Air France-operated flights beyond Paris to ten destinations - Aberdeen, Bordeaux, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Lyon, Madrid, Marseille, Newcastle, Nice and Toulouse.
Hertz Global extends partnership with Air France-KLM
Hertz Global Holdings has confirmed that Hertz, Thrifty and Firefly will serve as Air France’s exclusive car rental providers for four years. The news follows the renewal of the 28 year partnership between Hertz and Air France–KLM Group.
Air France becomes latest airline to join Boeing Dreamliner club
Boeing and AerCap have delivered the first 787 to Air France. The airplane, a 787-9, signifies the delivery of AerCap’s 50th Dreamliner and will be deployed on Air France’s Paris to Cairo route starting in January. The airplane is also the 500th 787 produced on Boeing’s production lines.
Uncertain environment bites into Air France-KLM revenues
Air France-KLM has pointed to a deteriorating global situation for a fall in profits during the second quarter of 2016. The group reported a five per cent fall in revenue to €6.22 billion for the three months to June 30th when compared with the same period last year.
Air France-KLM sees profits rise in line with fall fuel prices
European airline Air France-KLM has posted its first annual net profit since 2008. The carrier reported a net profit of €118 million for 2015, compared with a €225 million net loss the year before. The company’s overall sales rose 2.8 per cent to €89.82 billion last year.
Air Astana signs codeshare deal with Air France-KLM
Air Astana and two of Europe’s leading airlines, Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, have deepened their cooperation by signing a codeshare agreement for flights between Astana and Paris operated by Air Astana. Effective for flights from March 11th 2016, this three times a week service will now carry the marketing code of both KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Air France.
Airlines for Europe launches in Amsterdam
Airlines for Europe, Europe’s new airline association, has officially been launched at an EU Aviation Summit in Amsterdam. The new association has been founded by Europe’s five largest airline groups – Air France KLM, easyJet, International Airlines Group, Lufthansa Group, Ryanair – to represent the interests of its members when dealing with the EU institutions, international organisations and national governments on European aviation issues.
Air France managers forced to flee irate employees
Two Air France managers have been chased from a meeting with employees following a disagreement over job cuts. Human resources manager Xavier Broseta and senior official Pierre Plissonnier has their shirts torn from them as they clambered over a fence to escape irate workers.
KLM launches android smartwatch app
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is set to run a trial with Android smartwatch technology that will provide passengers with specific trip information. Besides supplying passengers with their boarding pass, the app assists with all relevant airport-related activities.
