Air France-KLM Group, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic have announced their intention to expand their strategic partnership and offer customers access to the most comprehensive transatlantic route network via an extensive joint venture. Under the deal, Air France-KLM will acquire a 31 per cent stake in Virgin Atlantic from the holding currently held by Virgin Group.

Singapore Airlines and regional subsidiary SilkAir have signed a memorandum of understanding with Air France-KLM to codeshare on each other’s flights with effect from April 2017. Under the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals, Singapore Airlines will add its ‘SQ’ designator code to Air France-operated flights beyond Paris to ten destinations - Aberdeen, Bordeaux, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Lyon, Madrid, Marseille, Newcastle, Nice and Toulouse.

Boeing and AerCap have delivered the first 787 to Air France. The airplane, a 787-9, signifies the delivery of AerCap’s 50th Dreamliner and will be deployed on Air France’s Paris to Cairo route starting in January. The airplane is also the 500th 787 produced on Boeing’s production lines.

European airline Air France-KLM has posted its first annual net profit since 2008. The carrier reported a net profit of €118 million for 2015, compared with a €225 million net loss the year before. The company’s overall sales rose 2.8 per cent to €89.82 billion last year.

Air Astana and two of Europe’s leading airlines, Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, have deepened their cooperation by signing a codeshare agreement for flights between Astana and Paris operated by Air Astana. Effective for flights from March 11th 2016, this three times a week service will now carry the marketing code of both KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Air France.
