Gatwick is launching the UK’s first ever direct flights to Chongqing – one of the world’s largest urban centres and a major manufacturing and transportation hub in southwest China. The twice weekly, year round, flights will then continue to China’s fourth largest city, Tianjin, Gatwick announced today. Starting from June 25th, Chinese carrier Tianjin Airlines will fly the Airbus A330 on the new Gatwick-Chongqing-Tianjin route – the airline’s first long haul flights outside Asia and one that complements its existing network serving over a 100 cities across China.

Norwegian has reported its first quarter results for 2016 with an underlying improvement of more than 400 MNOK (£34 million), compared to the same quarter previous year. The company’s intercontinental and Nordic routes had a positive impact on the results. The load factor was record high at 85 per cent, in a quarter that is traditionally considered low season.

Wizz Air launches new flights from Gatwick to Bucharest

Wizz Air will begin direct service from London’s Gatwick Airport to Bucharest from June 18th. The new Gatwick connection to Bucharest will be the only direct connection between the two airports, offering the easiest access to the Romanian capital from the south London hub. With a total of four Wizz Air direct flights a day between London and Bucharest, the new Gatwick route adds a second option for travel from London along with Wizz Air’s direct three-times-a-day flights between Bucharest and London Luton in north London.
