EVA Air signs codeshare deal with Star Alliance partner Avianca

EVA Air has announced the initiation of a code-share agreement with fellow Star Alliance member, Avianca, making travel between Asia and Central America much more convenient for both the airlines’ passengers. The new code-share agreement will enable EVA Air’s passengers to connect through Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco to connect with Avianca flights to San Salvador, while Avianca’s passengers will be able to connect through the same US airports for flights to Taipei.

United has announced the addition of two key members to the company’s executive leadership team with the appointment of Andrew Levy as executive vice president and chief financial officer and Julia Haywood as executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Gerry Laderman, who has been serving as acting chief financial officer, will continue in his previous role as senior vice president, finance, procurement and treasurer.

The milestone marks yet another record for ANA as it becomes the world's first airline to operate 50 787 Dreamliners. Pegasus Airlines has announced its financial results for the first half of 2016 and its traffic results for January to July 2016. In the first six months of this year Pegasus’ sales revenue has risen by five per cent year-on-year to reach TL1.5 billion; while the airline has recorded an EBITDAR TL28.08 million. Pegasus also achieved 27 per cent growth in its ancillary revenue in the first half of 2016.

Malaysia Airlines has announced the implementation of self-print baggage tag for all its domestic and international flights to make the travel experience for customers faster and more efficient. Blurring the line between full-service and low-cost carriers ever further, passengers on Economy Class tickets will need to print the baggage tags at check-in kiosks located around the departure level of Kuala Lumpur International Airport and self-tag their bags before proceeding to the baggage drop counter.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will expand its services to Italy with a daily flight to Venice Marco Polo Airport. The new service will begin from October 30th and be served by an Airbus A319, offering 16 seats in Business and 90 in Economy. Together with Alitalia, its codeshare and equity partner, Etihad Airways will offer 35 weekly flights in and out of Italy, including double daily services to Rome and Milan.

Iberia gains Japanese anti-trust immunity alongside oneworld partners

Japan’s ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism has granted an extension of the anti-trust immunity to include Iberia in the joint business between Japan Airlines, British Airways and Finnair. The decision will allow the four airlines to cooperate commercially on flights between Europe and Japan. Iberia is expected to join the existing joint business between the other three airlines as from October 18th, 2016.
