WTM Latin America 2014’s event programme will include an array of experts debating the latest trends and opinions on a range of issues including responsible tourism, technology, aviation and sports tourism.

WTM Latin America is taking place between April 23 and April 25 at the Transamerica Expo Center, in the city of São Paulo, alongside the 41st Braztoa Business Meeting (the Brazilian Association of Tour Operators).

Among the highlights on the first day of the event, April 23, will be the European Tourism Commission’s (ETC) session ‘Opening the doors to Brazilian Tourists’, which will include a discussion of trends and prospects in terms of demand for European destinations in the Brazilian market.

Meanwhile the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will discuss the economic challenges faced by the aviation industry in Latin America.

Braztoa’s Leisure Forum is also scheduled to take place on the first day. In addition the Responsible Tourism prorgamme – which will include a number of speakers including two winners of the World Responsible Tourism Awards; Dr. Harold Goodwin and Heidi van der Watt, who, among other topics, will discuss whether or not Responsible Tourism has a positive impact on business and local communities, as well as on the economy.

The WTM Vision Conference – Sao Paulo takes place on the second day of the event (April 24).

Furthermore, Facebook’s Business Director in Brazil, João Carlos Pastore, will talk about how to make the best use of Facebook’s marketing tools in a dedicated session. Also on the 24th, the participants will be able to witness discussions around the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) sector, with the ICCA (the International Congress and Convention Association) and the MPI (Meetings Professionals International), at a Forum focusing exclusively on this sector.

And for the final day, April 25, among other things, there is the Sports Tourism session looking at the success of the London 2012 Olympics and looking forward to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic and Paralympic Games.

TripAdvisor Americas Commercial Director Sam Thompson will take part in a session titled - Growth and Change, Collective Wisdom, New Platforms and Opportunities and Changes in Travel Patterns.
