Voting opens ahead of World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony 2015

Voters from across the golf hospitality industry are being invited to cast their ballots as voting opens ahead of the World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony 2015.

The event will be staged at the luxurious Conrad Algarve, Portugal, for the second successive year on November 5th-8th, 2015.

This year golf sponsor Quinta do Lago will offer World Golf Awards guests a chance to enjoy its three award-winning championship golf courses – the South Course, Laranjal, and new North Course, which was co-designed by Beau Welling and European Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley.

Each has been expertly designed to complement its natural surroundings, while offering its own set of unique challenges.

Wide lakes, undulating fairways and strategic bunkers characterise the terrain, along with carefully tended greens, which are considered to be among the best in Portugal.

All three are nominated for prestigious title of Portugal’s Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards.

World Golf Awards managing director Christopher Frost said: “World Golf Awards is delighted to be returning to both Conrad Algarve and Qunita do Lago as we begin preparations for the Gala Ceremony 2015.

“With voting now open it is down to you, the voters, to decide who we will recognise with our prestigious trophies. Competition is sure to be fierce so ensure your voices are heard by voting now!”

Attendees of the World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony 2015 will be welcomed to the Conrad Algarve on Thursday, November 5th, with a round of golf at Quinta do Lago to open proceedings on Friday, November 6th.

A networking dinner will follow in the evening, before the Second Annual World Golf Awards Classic competition on the morning of Saturday, November 7th.

In the evening, the unveiling of the World Golf Awards will form the centrepiece of the itinerary, before guests depart on Sunday, November 8th.

John Dwyer, chief executive of Quinta do Lago, said: “We received some tremendous feedback and exposure after hosting the inaugural World Golf Awards which made it a very simple decision for Quinta do Lago to be involved again.

“The event helped ensure the resort finished last year with a real flourish, following the hugely successful re-opening of the North Course, and we’re determined to continue the positive momentum in 2015.

Dwyer added: “This is a great opportunity for Quinta do Lago to showcase our array of five-star facilities to many of the key decision makers in the game and remain at the forefront of the golf industry.”

Among the most anticipated races this year will be for the title of Asia’s Best Golf Destination, where Malaysia defends its trophy against such heavyweights as China, Indonesia and Thailand, while The Els Club Teluk Datai will seek to capitalise on its recognition last year as Asia’s Best New Golf Course.

At the same time, host Portugal will compete to retain the title of World’s Best Golf Destination, while Dubai will battle it out to retain the title of Middle East’s Best Golf Destination against Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Oman.

“The Conrad Algarve is extremely proud to be hosting the World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony for the second year in a row,” said Conrad Algarve General Manager Joachim Hartl.

“It was an incredible pleasure to be part of the first edition of such a prestigious event in which Portugal was inclusively awarded as the World’s Best Golf Destination and makes more than sense to extend this connection with the golf hospitality industry.

“The Conrad Algarve Team will be more than happy to welcome all the participants and make the most of this evening that will take place on the November 7th 2015.”

Voting will close on September 27th.
