Visit Essex goes mobile

Visit Essex goes mobile

From 1st August 2012, visitors to Essex will be able to discover the delights of the county whilst on the move with a brand new mobile website created by tourism body, Visit Essex.

Compatible with all smart phones, the site will feature a comprehensive guide to Essex detailing different events, attractions, accommodation options and a guide to where to eat. It has been designed to complement the existing visitessex.com website which attracts over 180,000 unique visitors each month.

The mobile website is the latest in a long line of marketing initiatives created by Visit Essex designed to attract people to the destination and to encourage them to return again and again. This has included rebranding the county’s shores to the Essex Discovery Coast to highlight the diverse range of culture, food, heritage, activities and attractions on offer and more recently, creating the Live Local Love Local money off booklets to help local people discover the gems that are available in their neighbourhood for less.

George Kieffer, the chairman of Visit Essex, commented; “We have designed the mobile website to be a modern day guide book for Essex, an essential tool for helping people to decide what to see and do and where to stay whilst in the county.”

He continued; “We all increasingly use smart-phones and applications to find out about events and make bookings while on the move and this aid will help visitors find what they are looking for when coming to Essex. The timing of the launch is designed to capture the many overseas visitors attending the Olympics Games. We are lucky enough to not only have to two host venues but we are also closer to Stratford than many West London Boroughs. We will be out and about flying the flag for Essex at many different events to remind the world’s media of this!”
