The historic Vernon Manor Hotel has once again opened to the public, but instead of checking in, the public has the opportunity to check out and take a piece of the hotel with them.

The hotel’s owners have retained the services of NCL/National Content Liquidators, leading experts in hotel liquidation management, to clear the hotel of its current contents as a prelude to the property’s redevelopment.

The Vernon Manor Hotel, an exercise in English Renaissance Revival and modeled after the stately Hatfield House in England, has been a Cincinnati landmark since 1924. The hotel, which overlooks the city skyline, was originally built as a retreat for wealthy Cincinnatians longing to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Perched atop one of the cities’ Seven Hills, the hotel has been the choice of such notable guests as the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, the Temptations, Judy Garland and Presidents Johnson, Kennedy and Bush Sr. The hotel and its address (400 Oak Street) were featured in the 1988 film “Rainman,” starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman.

NCL’s liquidation sale began Thursday, February 18th and is open to both the hospitality industry and the general public. The sale hours are daily, Monday-Saturday, 10:00 am-7:00 pm and Sunday, 12:00-5:00 pm.

Items of interest for sale include the complete contents of the hotel’s 177 guestrooms and suites, some suites with complete kitchens, as well as king and queen beds, 25” and 19” TV’s, armoires, writing desks, artwork, lamps, loveseats, dining tables and chairs, china and glassware. Also included are a Baldwin Baby Grand piano, lobby furnishings, bar, banquet and restaurant equipment, commercial kitchen equipment, office furnishings, commercial laundry equipment and other items too numerous to mention.
