The Vail Marriott Mountain Resort is proud to announce Kellie Newman as its new general manager.
Newman brings to the position more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She is currently the general manager of the Denver Marriott West.
“It is such an honor to lead the professional and friendly team at one of the top ski resorts in Vail,” Newman said. “I am excited to be a part of this Vail luxury resort that continues to provide warm, hospitable service to our guests in a breathtaking setting.”
Newman began her career in 1991 as a housekeeping intern at Marriott’s Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri. She then served in several operations positions in the Chicago area, helping her gain a working and thorough knowledge of the company and leading her to the position of director for the event booking center in Nashville.
In 2000, Newman transitioned into the sales department at Marriott corporate headquarters in Maryland, where her dedication earned her the director position for the London sales office. After five years, she became director of room operations at the Orlando World Center Marriott. She then transitioned to Director of Group Strategy at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Downtown followed by a promotion to Assistant General Manager at the Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown.
Newman began her General Manager career path in 2009 at the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel. She then transferred to the Denver Marriott West.
Throughout the years, Newman has expanded her knowledge of the hospitality industry by serving on numerous boards, chambers and associations including the Denver West Chamber of Commerce and Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association. She also serves on Marriott’s General Managers Advisory Council.
Newman has a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in hotel management. When she is not working, Newman enjoys hiking, biking and camping with her husband, 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son.
Newman will lead a Vail resort that has consistently ranked in the top of ski polls. As the largest ski resort in the nation, her accommodations cater to skiers and snowboards from all over the world with 344 well-appointed rooms boasting high-tech amenities and modern luxuries. The resort also offers travelers a relaxing spa, casual restaurant and pub, state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor and outdoor pool and skiing on nearby Vail Mountain.
