UK tourism in rude health according to ONS

Figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal UK tourism continues to grow, following the success of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

According to the ONS there were 2.8 million visits to UK by overseas residents in Sept 2013, six per cent higher than the number in September 2012.

In the three months July to September 2013, visits to the UK from North America are up three per cent, and visits from Europe and

Other Countries increased by eight per cent and 13 per cent respectively, compared with the same months a year earlier.

Year to date (January to September) holiday visits to the UK continue to rise and are up 7 per cent.

Over the last twelve months, estimates of earnings from overseas residents to the UK continue to rise and are up eight per cent, ONS figures confirmed.
