Typhoon Vicente hits Hong Kong

Typhoon Vicente has whipped across Hong Kong leaving scores of residents injured in its wake.

Flooding has been reported in several parts of the city following the impact, which residents are calling the worst typhoon in a decade.

At the height of the storm the Hong Kong Observatory issued a level ten typhoon warning, the most severe level.

This has now been downgraded to level eight as the storm moves away.

More than 265 people have sought shelter at temporary shelters which were opened by the Home Affairs Department.
