Travelport announces new distributor relationship in Uzbekistan

Travelport, one of the world’s leading providers of global distribution systems (GDS), operating both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Global Travel Services Ltd to distribute the Galileo and Worldspan GDS to travel agencies in Uzbekistan.

The agreement follows a long-standing successful partnership with Global Travel Services of over 12 years in Pakistan, and more recently, Afghanistan.

The partnership is part of Travelport’s ongoing multi-million dollar (US) investment strategy into Eastern Europe and Central Asia out of which one part is to develop and extend a highly efficient distributor system.

“This new partnership with Global Travel Services marks an important milestone for Travelport as we set up our new operations in the Central Asian region to strengthen our presence and provide increased support to our agents,” said Oliver Streit, head of new markets, Eastern Europe.

Streit continued, “Their excellent track record including their ability to successfully enter and grow new countries as well as their convincing sales and marketing strategy for Uzbekistan were strong deciding factors in establishing this relationship.”

Listing specific reasons for the distributor’s success, Sultan concluded: “The secret to our cooperative achievements are the high professional standards we set ourselves, our overall responsiveness, the personalised service we offer and the state of art technological advancements that we both bring to the table for our customers.”
