The World Cup kicks off at screens in Saint Lucia

At least eight top hotels in Saint Lucia will be screening the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament from June 12th to July 13th ensuring clients will not miss their national team in action while soaking up the glorious sun and spectacular views Saint Lucia has to offer.

Hotels that will be proudly showcasing the matches include: The Body Holiday, Rendezvous, Windjammer, Bay Gardens, East Winds Inn, Coco Palm, The Landings, and St James’ Club Morgan Bay.

With a time difference of just an hour with Brazil, there will be no need for clients to wake up at the crack of dawn to watch their team play. Rather than squashing up on the sofa, fans and supporters alike will be free to stretch out on a sun lounger at half time and sip on cocktails whilst cheering on their favourite players.

Jean-Marc Flambert, Director of Marketing UK and Europe at the Saint Lucia Tourist Board commented:
“Not only can clients still relish in the array of activities Saint Lucia has to offer and enjoy their tropical holiday, but they can now follow the progress of their national team in the biggest football tournament in the world. The atmospheric hotels will bring different cultures together to unite in support of the tense and exciting games to come.”

Saint Lucia is seeing a growth in its sporting heritage with the likes of double Olympic gold medal champion and British athletics legend Daley Thompson supporting sporting success as ambassador for the annual Saint Lucia triathlon. Footballing star Jermain Defoe who is on standby for this year’s tournament has also had a heavy presence on the island as he has plans to set up a football academy to develop and scout Saint Lucian talent. Other sporting personalities who have heritage in Saint Lucia include London Irish and England rugby player, Marland Yarde, and footballing stars Rio and Anton Ferdinand.
