The Landmark London is proud to announce the achievement of Gold Status which has been awarded by the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) and is the national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK. The Landmark London joins the 13 other hotels in the Capital that hold this coveted accreditation.

The Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Status was achieved through the work of The Landmark London’s very own Green Team whose mission has been to lead and support the implementation of green practices throughout the hotel to make daily operations more environmentally-friendly, without compromising on guest comfort.

The team comprises volunteers from each department within the hotel from all staff levels - including Senior Management and Executive Team members. The volunteers review and evaluate sustainable initiatives, from recycling and water-saving to product-sourcing, together with a focused effort to instil a general carbon-consciousness throughout the hotel’s staff. 

In their ongoing efforts to hit – and even exceed – emission reduction targets for next year, The Landmark London will be teaming up with a Considerate Hotelier Buddy, The Cavendish, who also have a Green Team; they plan to work together to share best practice and brainstorm new initiatives. Both hotels are members of the Considerate Hoteliers Association which is run by hoteliers for hoteliers with the belief that sound business practices, common sense and social responsibility can bring about positive change while remaining mindful of guest needs.

As part of a wider remit, The Landmark London Green Team has introduced a Corporate and Social Responsibility Programme (recognised by the GTBS) which supports local causes. It has adopted the neighbouring Church Street Ward which has one of the highest social housing concentrations in the UK.
The hotel works with Church Street Ward charity The Marylebone Project to fundraise, donate treats such as afternoon tea vouchers to the elderly, and provide social support such as the staff donating time to teach English to members of the Church Street community, volunteers to work at the Fourth Feathers Youth & Community Centre, and help in the various Church Street Ward green areas to create and restore gardens.
