The Address Dubai is one of the leading hotels in the United Arab Emirates

A fire has broken out in at The Address hotel in central Dubai, close the Burj Khalifa.

The the Burj Khalifa is host to the annual fireworks display in Dubai - considered one of the largest in the world.

Burning debris fell from the 300m-tall building as firefighters arrived at the scene.

The blaze is reported to have started on the 20th floor, on the outside of the tower.

Internal fire-fighting systems were operating to try to prevent it getting inside the hotel.

The cause of the blaze is unclear.

It erupted ahead of a major New Year’s Eve fireworks display, to be held at the Burj Khalifa - the tallest building in the world.
