Take a break and reconnect with your inner source of joy. Ashtanga Yoga master Kim Roberts is hosting three yoga retreats and getaways at Thanyamundra, a tranquil and private sanctuary nestled amongst the mist-shrouded mountains of Khao Sok National Park.
Aside from daily yoga and meditation, savour the best of organic cuisine grown on our 70 rai organic farm, outings into the ancient Khao Sok rainforest, and a welcome break from the hectic pace of modern life to help guests recharge and rejuvenate their mind and body.
Thanyamundra, recently elevated to DestinAsian’s Luxe List and voted one of Thailand’s top 3 eco-resorts by agoda.com, is the most perfect setting you could hope to find to take your yoga practice to a deeper level, or to take your first lesson.
The dates are as follows:
April 7-14, 2012 Easter Week Retreat
July 6-9, 2012 Weekend Yoga Getaway
October 26-29, 2012 Weekend Yoga Getaway
Ms. Roberts says the main goal of the retreats and getaways is to explore the foundational practices of Ashtanga yoga, leading students at their own pace to revitalise and prepare the body to experience its deeper essence in meditation.
Practitioners will move through the postures at their own pace and advance only when ready. The practice will be adjusted to the appropriate level for each student. No prior experience is necessary and all levels of students are welcome.
Beginning her committed practice of Ashtanga yoga in 1992 under the guidance of Richard Freeman in Boulder, Colorado, USA, Kim spent a year studying with Sri Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy in Mysore, India, where she was authorised to teach the Ashtanga system. In addition, Kim earned a teaching certificate from the White Lotus Institute in Santa Barbara, California. She also has extensive experience guiding meditation students in retreat settings.
Thanyamundra is a nine-suite sanctuary perched above the rolling terraces of an organic farm where some of the Asia’s most pure produce is lovingly coaxed from rich soil, amidst the mountains and spectacular limestone karsts of Khao Sok National Park.
With Asian antique filled suites in two modern, Thai-inspired golden teak villas, Thanyamundra has been transformed from the home of a European entrepreneur into an impressive retreat offering warm and professional service, gourmet organic cuisine, and holistic wellness in an incredible natural environment.
Thanyamundra boasts a variety of invigorating fitness and leisure facilities. Swim laps or sun bathe at the 50-metre hilltop infinity pool, stay fit in the gym or explore the local roads for running or cycling. Each of Thanyamundra’s spacious suites are fully equipped with modern comforts from high-speed wireless Internet and LCD flat screen televisions to Thai silk interiors and spacious private bathrooms with separate rain showers.
