Terry Morgan re-appointed as Crossrail Chairman

Crossrail Limited announced that Terry Morgan CBE has been re-appointed by the Crossrail Board as Non-Executive Chairman for a three-year term from 31 May 2012.

Current Non-Executive Board member, Michael Cassidy CBE, has been re-appointed by the Board for a further three-year term from 31 July 2012.

Current Non-Executive Board Member, Robert Jennings CBE has been reappointed by the Department for Transport as their nominee on the Crossrail Board for a further three-year term from 29 April 2012.

Crossrail Chairman Terry Morgan said: “Significant progress has been made since the start of Crossrail construction in May 2009. Work is now underway at all our central London station sites, excavation for the new Canary Wharf station is complete and the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy in east London is now training the next generation of tunnellers and construction workers.

“The major delivery of Crossrail will shortly commence with the start of tunnelling. Over the next two and a half years, eight tunnel boring machines will construct 21km of twin-bore tunnel under London. Over 3,000 people are now employed on the project and that number will increase nearly five-fold over the next two years. Tens of thousands of jobs will also be supported through the supply chain in London and in regionally-based manufacturers and suppliers.”
