TAP Portugal adds new destinations in Americas

TAP Portugal is looking ahead to a bright 2014, focusing on growing the strong results achieved in 2013 and continuing to meet customer expectations, as well as significantly expanding the network reach and range of flight options available to customers.

From July 2014, TAP’s network will benefit from the addition of two new destinations in Central and South America, Bogotá and Panama City.

The route is to be launched with four weekly frequencies from London Heathrow operating on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, allowing easy access, via Lisbon, to the Central and South American cities.

The increase in operations has been made possible through the addition to TAP’s long and medium haul aircraft fleet of six brand new aircraft: two A330s and four from the A320 family, as TAP strive to continually improve its offering and provide the latest comfortable flying experiences.

Bogotá is the capital of Columbia, and also among the 30 largest cities in the world.

It offers a cultural, literary and artistic hub for travellers, with over 60 museums, 60 galleries, 45 theatres and 150 cultural monuments.

Panama City is the capital of the Republic of Panama, Central America.

The city sky-line of high-rise buildings contrasts with the surrounding tropical rainforest, while sights include the Panama Canal and numerous cathedrals, galleries and historic palaces in the city’s old quarter.
The new destinations add to an already extensive list of 15 TAP locations across North, Central and South America; 12 of which are in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador da Bahia, Fortaleza, Recife, Natal, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Campinas and starting this June to Belém and Manaus), as well as Caracas, Miami and New York.

The new routes and fleet expansion demonstrate TAP’s continued investment in maximising the potential of its Lisbon hub, offering convenient onward travel and opening up 79 destinations to British travellers, in 34 worldwide countries including Europe, Africa and Central and South America.
