Suntec becomes major Youth Games venue

The Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre has been chosen as a dedicated venue for six sports competitions at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games 2010 – Boxing, Fencing, Handball, Judo, Taekwondo and Wrestling and is the venue that will accommodate the most number of sports under one roof.

The organising Committee has appointed Suntec Singapore as the Official Convention Centre Partner for the Games.

“SYOGOC welcomes Suntec Singapore as the Official Convention Centre Partner for Singapore 2010. With Suntec Singapore’ expertise in holding many iconic events, from high-level government meetings to business conferences, we are confident that Singapore will be able to deliver a memorable Games and reinforce Singapore as a choice location for hosting international multi-sporting events,” said Mr GOH Kee Nguan, Chief Executive Officer of SYOGOC.


“As Singapore is getting ready to welcome the inaugural YOG, Suntec Singapore is proud to play a major role in this global sporting event,” said Pieter IDENBURG, Chief Executive Officer of Suntec Singapore. “Suntec Singapore and SYOGOC share many common values in support of education, nurturing a sporting culture and building communities. The signing of this agreement underlies our continued commitment to support our community and especially in nurturing the youthful contestants of the Games.”

In addition, Culture and Education Programme (CEP) such as Arts and Culture and Discovery Activity, which will include an Olympic Gallery, interactive exhibits on healthy living, demonstrations of selected YOG sports, will be held at Suntec Singapore. These CEP activities located at Suntec Singapore level 3 concourse will be open to members of the public.
