Strong rise in Messe Berlin turnover

As the financial year draws to a close, turnover for the Messe Berlin group of companies is forecast to reach €238 million, marking an increase of 27 per cent over the base year 2013.

More than two million visitors from around the world came to find out about the products and services shown at a total of 102 events held by the Messe Berlin group of companies.

Around 30,000 exhibitors from Germany and abroad, in all representing over 180 countries, occupied a display area in excess of two million square metres and provided a comprehensive overview of the latest products and services from a wide range of sectors.

Close to 30,000 members of the media from all parts of the world received accreditation for the 70 trade fairs and conferences that took place at Berlin ExpoCenter City and Berlin ExpoCenter Airport.

Thus, in addition to producing the best business results in the company’s history in an odd-numbered year, in which traditionally there are fewer events, 2015 was also an outstanding year in terms of trade fairs and conferences.

Christian Göke, chief executive, Messe Berlin, said: “The fact that after over a decade of continuous growth there has been a 27 per cent rise in turnover means that this last year was very special.

“It is something everyone at Messe Berlin can be very proud of and makes us confident that we can meet the challenges of the future.”

In 2015, trade fairs at Messe Berlin such as the International Green Week Berlin, FRUIT LOGISTICA, ITB Berlin and IFA, all globally recognised events, once again proved to be international leaders in their respective sectors and major platforms for exhibiting product innovations and technologies.

Other highlights in 2015 on the capital’s calendar of events included numerous national and international trade fairs and consumer exhibitions and over 50 guest events and conferences.
