Steven McArthur appointed CEO of VEGAS.com

Travel and online veteran Steven McArthur has been named CEO of VEGAS.com. James B. Gibson, who served as president and CEO of the company for the past two-and-a-half years, will continue serving as an Officer on the VEGAS.com Board of Managers.

McArthur brings to VEGAS.com extensive executive leadership experience. He served as president of North America for Expedia, overseeing the company’s portfolio of North American brands including Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire, Classic Vacations and TripAdvisor. He also served as executive vice president of Web properties for AOL and as president of Classmates Media Corporation, a division of United Online.

In addition to his leadership roles at Expedia and United Online, McArthur led the Consumer Applications business unit at Hewlett-Packard. He began his career at Bain & Company, advising clients in the technology, travel, health care and financial services industries. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Queen’s University, Belfast, and an MBA from Harvard University. “Steven’s diverse background and strong knowledge of consumer behavior, travel and technology make him the ideal person to manage day-to-day activities at VEGAS.com,” observed Gibson.

Gibson is the former three-term Mayor of Henderson, and served on numerous boards and commissions during his tenure as mayor, including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Board of Directors, the Nevada Development Authority Board of Directors, the Las Vegas Events Board of Directors and the Regional Transportation Commission.

Under Gibson’s leadership, the Company signed an exclusive agreement with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to allow the LVCVA to use LasVegas.com as its primary domain. In addition, e-commerce functionality was integrated into the LVCVA site for the first time ever.
