Steigenberger Hotel Group: New Hotels & Extensive Renovations

In April 2011 the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotel Group will open the Steigenberger Grandhotel in Leipzig, in close proximity to the Naschmarkt and the Altes Rathaus. The elegant luxury hotel, which belongs to the Steigenberger Grandhotel Collection, skilfully combines traditional and modern elements and serves to reinforce the new strategic orientation of the Steigenberger Hotel Group.

Behind the protected historic facade of the former Handelshof the building has been completely renovated, creating a modern Grandhotel that will live up to the reputation and history of the site, both in terms of looks and facilities. It will have over 165 luxury rooms, eleven suites, each measuring between 52 and 70 sqm, and one Presidential Suite. Conference guests at the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof will be well served by the conference area, which covers around 500 sqm and has four seminar rooms. In future, guests will be able to relax in the hotel’s own premium-category Wellness area and in the two restaurants – one of which is a Gourmet restaurant – and the Lobby bar.

A new Steigenberger hotel in the far north, on the Baltic island of Usedom in the coastal resort of Heringsdorf, is due to open in summer 2010: The Steigenberger Grandhotel Heringsdorf. The luxury hotel, located directly on the promenade, will have 150 rooms and suites, all measuring at least 36 sqm. The 10,000 sqm hotel complex also boasts 40 “Seaside Residencies”; apartments of between 60 and 130 sqm for private buyers. One highlight of the Steigenberger Hotel Heringsdorf will be the Steigenberger Spa Luxury. At over 2,000 sqm this exclusive wellness area will offer indoor and outdoor swimming pools, 400 sqm of sauna area plus fitness, beauty and massage facilities, satisfying every demand for a modern, high quality wellness concept. Conference guests can choose between four conference rooms, all of which can be combined at will or made into one large hall measuring 240 sqm. Where wining and dining are concerned the Steigenberger Hotel Heringsdorf has some very special plans up its sleeve: the main restaurant and the bistro will offer contemporary light cuisine as well as local specialities.

As far as the Steigenberger investment programme is concerned, two major renovation projects are under way in Stuttgart and Duesseldorf. In the Steigenberger Parkhotel Düsseldorf the Steigenberger Hotels AG invests 10 million Euros in a new concept and further development of this luxury hotel. The main focus of the refurbishment is on the entrance area, restaurants, bar and guest rooms.

The Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart is undergoing a 17 million Euro renovation and rebuilding programme. The number of rooms is being reduced from 190 to 155 to increase their size. The design is timelessly modern: dark woods combined with red painted surfaces, and fabrics and leather covers being kept in warm colours. The hotel lobby, as well as the reception and the events area with its ten meeting rooms and business centre are also being refurbished. In the hotel’s Shiseido day spa a 450 sqm Asian-style wellness world is being created featuring a sauna, steam bath and bio sauna. The treatment area is being enlarged, a new reception created and the pool area modernised. Renovation work is being done in stages: the first rooms will be shining in all their glory in early 2011, with all renovation work completed by summer 2011.
