Aloft brand to make New York debut

Starwood’s Aloft brand is set to debut in Syracuse, New York. Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor will be a key component of a massive waterfront redevelopment project along the former Barge Canal. Slated to open in June 2016, the property will feature 132 spacious, loft-like rooms, forward-thinking technology and a vibrant, social atmosphere.

“Aloft is a terrific match for this exciting waterfront revitalization project and is poised to emerge as a hotspot among savvy travelers and young professionals who appreciate Aloft’s urban design aesthetic, intuitive technologies and live music offerings at the W XYZ® bar,”
said Brian McGuinness, Senior Vice President, Specialty Select Brands for Starwood.

“Accelerating demand for Aloft among the next generation of travelers has fueled the brand’s propulsive growth in markets worldwide.” McGuiness added.

In addition to the new Aloft hotel, the $350 million redevelopment of the Inner Harbour will include educational facilities and several mixed-use complexes with office, retail and residential components.

Hotel facilities will include the Aloft brand’s signature W XYZ bar, Splash pool, 24-hour fitness center and 690 square feet of flexible meeting space, ideal for both business meetings and social gatherings.

“We are delighted to partner with COR Development to introduce Aloft Hotels to Syracuse in 2016. Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor will provide travelers with a fresh new option in an enviable location within the brand-new Inner Harbor development,” said Allison Reid, Senior Vice President of North America Development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

“With its urban design, social atmosphere and innovative programming, Aloft is now a leading choice among owners and the next generation of travelers in markets across North America.” Added Reid.

Aloft recently announced that select properties will roll out Smart Check In, allowing guests to use their smartphones to check in to the hotel and open their guestroom door.

This follows on the heels of the first phase of Smart Check-In, the first mobile check-in using RFID technology to truly bypass the front desk available at 14 Aloft properties.
