Stansted baggage workers call off strike

Baggage scanning staff at London Stansted Airport have called off a strike planned for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Officials at the GMB union, which represents the striking workers, announced the decision earlier following talks with airport managers.

A spokesman said members had accepted an improved pay offer following talks with employer Mitie.

The GMB said it consulted with staff and the offer was accepted.

Stansted Airport said it was “delighted” the dispute had ended.
