London Stansted Airport has been forced to close its single runway due to heavy snow fall closed.

Passengers using the Essex based airport are advised to check with airlines before departure.

The airport warned some flights may be subject to “delays and cancellation”.

Stansted added in a statement earlier: “Our teams are working to re-open the runway as soon as possible.”

“Further updates will be posted here when we have further news.”

Stansted is the fourth busiest airport in UK, behind Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester.

Luton Airport also closed its runway earlier, but a spokesman confirmed to Breaking Travel News it had reopened at 08:00.
