Specialist serviced apartments operator Adina announces new Berlin property openings

With today’s opening of its latest hotel at Berlin Hackescher Markt, Adina Apartment Hotels cements its position as the premier apartment hotel brand in Germany.

The Hackescher Markt development marks the fifth hotel in Adina’s portfolio in Germany, complementing their other properties in Copenhagen and Budapest.

The Adina brand brings a new standard to the apartment hotel sector. The interior design is exciting, the quality is everything you would expect from a 4-5 star hotel, and each hotel has the professional service and facilities required by corporate and inner-city leisure guests staying from one night to many months. The new Adina Hackescher Markt Apartment Hotel is in keeping with the district’s vibrant dining culture: the hotel boasts a stylish brasserie restaurant offering international cuisine to be enjoyed by both guests and the local community and includes Berlin’s biggest Aveda salon, a gymnasium, spa and sauna.

Importantly, the individual apartments offer the spacious feeling of a luxury hotel suite as well as the “homely” touches that make the guest experience so much more pleasant: virtually silent rooms with heating from radiators like home, a place to cook & eat dinner, a sofa to watch TV from and a balcony to sit out on.

The Adina Apartment Hotel Hackescher Markt sits in the heart of the historic Mitte district, within close proximity to Berlin’s famous Hackesche Höfe area. The district is best known for its ancient courtyards surrounded by a fantastic selection of boutiques, restaurants and theatres. Nearby tourist attractions include the Red Town Hall, the Berlin Cathedral, Boulevards Unter Linden, Alexandra Platz and Staatsoper Unter den Linden. The hotel is well connected to the rest of Berlin by the U-Bahn and tramline on its doorstep, whilst Berlin Tegel Airport is only 25 minutes away by car.

Adina’s Director for Europe, Andrew Hunter, said: “Adina’s strategy is to be one of the top few players in any market we enter and we have focussed a lot of effort and investment into Germany over the past five years. With the opening of Adina Hackescher Markt, we are now clearly the dominant operator in the 4-5 star apart-hotel market. This means we are able to deliver great value to our shareholders. We are already trading 10-15% above average occupancy and can see the benefits of our strong brand penetration and operation efficiency through economies of scale. Entering a new market with such a capital intensive product is hard work and requires absolute focus. We are very excited at what we have achieved.”

Adina has plans to break into other core European markets such as the UK, France and Spain in the future. For investors, Adina believes its attraction lies in its proven ability to maximise performance through efficiency and operate with lower volatility compared to traditional hotels – smoothing out income fluctuation through seasonal and economic cycles.

Adina is part of the Toga Group, a privately owned company based in Australia. Adina has been operating in Europe for almost 10 years, starting with the launch of the Adina Apartment Hotel Budapest in Hungary. Adina is the vision of Toga’s Managing Director, Mr. Allan Vidor, who saw the opportunity to become the first pan-European, professionally managed, corporate quality apartment hotel brand.
