South West Trains completes 650k new look for UK Sttation

A new look station for Hounslow has been officially unveiled to the public following a four month refurbishment programme to create a modern station environment, fit for the needs of today’s passengers.

Passengers using Hounslow station are now greeted by a much more welcoming station following the completion of a £650,000 joint improvement scheme by South West Trains working in partnership with the Department for Transport, London Borough of Hounslow and Network Rail.
The old station building has been modernised by enhancing its original features to create a more spacious booking hall and ticket office. A brand new accessible toilet has now been installed.

A new ramp has been installed on the car park side of the station making it much easier for all passengers to access the platform. This is especially beneficial for those travelling with luggage or with young children, and provides access to both platforms for disabled passengers.

Hounslow station also is amongst the first few stations in the UK to be equipped with a new, more environmentally friendly lighting system which uses up to 60% less energy than traditional lights. Sensors detect the level of daylight brightness and automatically adjust to maximise the use of natural light.

To complete its fresh new look, the station has also been repainted. New signs have been installed in compliance with modern standards for visually impaired passengers.
