Social media is just the ticket for Arriva graduate recruitment

The company’s presence on Facebook and Twitter and a newly launched graduate blog will help the search for graduates with the potential to become future senior managers at Arriva.

The transport group, which employs more than 47,500 people across 12 countries, recruits graduates for its general management and engineering management programmes for placements in the UK and mainland Europe.

Charlie Leake, graduate recruitment and development manager at Arriva plc, said: “We want to make sure we have the right people applying for the places on our highly sought-after graduate programme. The dialogue we can build up with potential candidates through social media will mean people have a much better understanding of what we do, the opportunities and culture at Arriva, and what we expect of our future managers.

“At careers events potential applicants really appreciate chatting with Arriva employees about job opportunities – it is personal customer service, something that is second nature to Arriva employees. Now we’re building on the face-to-face approach online using media that students and graduates are familiar with.

“People interested in our graduate jobs can ‘like’ our Facebook page or post comments on our wall, or if they prefer they can stay up-to-date with the latest news about vacancies and our recruitment process via our Twitter feed. Our blog has people on our graduate programme telling it like it is inside an international public transport business.”


The Arriva graduate programme covers of a mix of on and off-the-job training, mentor coaching and regular performance and development reviews. The programme equips graduates with the skills and experience to become Arriva managers.
