Flights have been disrupted across Europe following heavy snowfall.

Delays to train services in France, Germany and the Netherlands have also been reported as snow falls across the north of the continent.

Dutch flag-carrier KLM cancelled all of its short-haul European flights this morning due to adverse weather, and warned delays may continue into the afternoon as airports dealt with ice on the runways.

Forty flights from Brussels Airport had been cancelled as of 08:00.

The high-speed Thalys rail service between France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands announced on its website snow had delayed services and advised travellers to delay their trip.

At the same time, low-cost carrier easyJet warned passengers its flights might be impacted and said it is taking proactive measures.

Ryanair warned of similar disruption to operations across France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and urged passengers to check the status of their flight.

Air France said snowfalls at Paris-Charles De Gaulle and Paris Orly have now stopped and operations are resuming normally.
