Smedegaard nominated as Norwegian chairman

Niels Smedegaard has been nominated for the role of chairman at Norwegian Airlines ahead of the annual general meeting on May 7th.

Born in 1962, Smedegaard is currently the president and chief executive of DFDS.

He has previously held leading positions in companies like Gate Gourmet Group, Swissair and SAS and is a Danish citizen.

The Norwegian nomination committee recommended that Smedegaard be elected as a new member of the board and that the board then considers electing him as the new chair.

The committee also nominated Ingrid Elvira Leisner as a member of the board.

In the UK, Norwegian carries almost six million passengers each year from London Gatwick, Edinburgh and Manchester Airports to 30 destinations worldwide.
