Desmond Hatton, general manager of Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang, is pleased to announce the appointment of Philippe Clarinval as the resort’s resident manager effective June 2010. Mr. Clarinval reports directly to the general manager and will play a vital role in overseeing the resort’s operational activities, particularly in the areas of service and quality delivery in the rooms and food and beverage departments.

Before moving to the Czech Republic, Mr. Clarinval worked in a variety of management roles throughout the United States and Europe, including his home country of Switzerland, Belgium and the United Kingdom. He held his first general manager position when he was just 28.
