Shangri-La announce the opening of China World Summit Wing, Beijing

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is pleased to announce the opening of China World Summit Wing Hotel, Beijing, located on the top floors of the capital’s latest landmark, the China World Tower.  With unrivalled views over the city, the hotel, which is the group’s sixth property in the capital city, soars 330 meters (1,083 feet) above the China World Trade Center at the heart of Beijing’s Central Business District.

“The opening of China World Summit Wing, Beijing, together with our existing portfolio of hotels in central Beijing, will allow us to meet the growing demand for luxury accommodation in China’s capital,” said Greg Dogan, Shangri-La’s president and chief executive officer.

Featuring 278 guestrooms, with views of the city from floor-to-ceiling windows, the hotel has an average guestroom size of 65m sq – the most spacious in the city. West-facing rooms and suites have a view of the rooftops of the Forbidden City.

All rooms present classic decor with subtle Chinese touches and include luxury amenities such as DVD players, iPod docking stations, mood lighting and designer beds with large feather duvets.

China World Summit Wing also features the city’s highest dining and entertainment venues; the signature restaurant Grill 79; The Lounge; the Atmosphere bar and exclusive private dining venues, the Chairman’s Rooms and The Peak amongst other restaurants. Designed by renowned restaurant designer Adam D Tihany, the dining and entertainment areas feature bespoke details that subtly recall traditional Chinese symbolism and the duality of yin and yang. The 80th floor is yin – cool, ethereal, heavenly and feminine, where Tihany has used custom glass light spheres that appear suspended in mid-air, creating a virtual sky inside the hotel. The 79th floor is yang – with far warmer, earthy colours that evoke masculinity.

The hotel’s lifestyle sanctuary benefits from a 24-hour gymnasium, indoor infinity swimming pool as well as CHI The Spa, Shangri-La’s signature spa brand.

China World Summit Wing, Beijing also unveils 5,500m² of conference and banqueting space, including the Summit Ballroom, the largest pillar-free ballroom in a deluxe hotel in Beijing.  Additional facilities include a rooftop Pine Garden, a 95-seat auditorium and 12 function rooms.

Aptly located, China World Summit Wing, Beijing provides direct access to the city’s coveted designer shops in the China World mall as well as to luxury apartments, the regional headquarters of multinational and Chinese corporations, and the exhibition hall, all within the multi-use complex. Beijing Capital International Airport can be reached in approximately 45 minutes via the airport expressway, while Beijing Railway Station is only a short 15-minute drive from the hotel.
